Greeting from The Regeneration Station! I'm Kim, the store manager. I decided to start this blog to tell the shop's story as we get into these beginning stages of really making our vision a reality. There are a lot of exciting developments, and we can't wait to see where we can go from here.
To give you all a brief history of who we are:
The Regeneration Station is a side project of Junk Recyclers, a local junk removal company whose goal is to keep your junk out of the landfill. If you have "junk" furniture that's still in good condition and we feel can be salvaged or repurposed, we will remove it for free. We'll take all of your other junk, too, (for 20% less than anyone else in town), and we'll do everything we can to keep it out of the landfill. We generally keep 90% of what we get from going in the landfill by: taking things apart and recycling what we can; saving hardware and scrap materials we feel could be of use in the future; scrapping metal and electronics; and restoring and reselling those things we removed for free. We want to make use of all this excess STUFF the Earth has collected, and keep it from hurting our environment in the landfill. To learn more, visit our website here.
The Regeneration Station comes into play when all this unwanted junk makes its way back to our warehouse and retail space. We sort it all depending on if it's being restored, reused, recycled, or scrapped. We set aside the furniture that is salvageable into the Fixer Uppers area. These pieces are priced super low so those on a budget can still get some quality furniture for a good price. Also, Fixer Uppers are available for local artists to upcycle and sell in the shop on consignment! For more information on our Upcycled Showcase program, go here.
